Parents Hid Their Baby To Protect
1. A Mother’s Concern
Paris Brookshaw was born in April 2021 with a congenital melanocytic nevus —
a dark mark between her eyebrows. Although harmless, her mother, Celine Casey,
feared it could affect Paris’s self-esteem as she grew older.
She worried her daughter might one day “hate her parents” if they didn’t remove it.
2. Seeking Answers
Doctors explained that the mark could grow,
and the NHS refused surgery because it was “purely cosmetic.”
Casey felt other children might treat Paris differently and wanted to act early.
3. Crowdfunding for Surgery
The parents launched GoFundMe campaigns,
raising tens of thousands of dollars for the procedure.
Casey explained, “Everybody has things they’re insecure about…
she’s going to start school when she’s three, and younger kids… point out stuff like that.”
4. Successful Outcome
Paris underwent several surgeries,
leaving only a faint scar. Her mother now calls her “gorgeous,”
grateful for her healthy, happy two-year-old.
