Country music legend George Strait is grieving the loss of two key members of his musical family. In a Facebook post, he revealed that his long-time manager, Eugene Ervine “Erv” Woolsey, and his band member, Gene Elders, passed away on the same day.
Woolsey, 80, had managed Strait since the early 1980s, guiding his career through decades of success. Strait called him “not only a trusted manager but also a close friend,” crediting him with much of his success. Woolsey died from complications following surgery.
Elders, a gifted fiddle player, helped shape Strait’s signature sound. His passing has deeply affected the country music community and fans alike.
In his post, Strait expressed deep sorrow: “They were more than just colleagues—they were family.” He shared gratitude for their time together, saying their impact on his life and career was immeasurable.
