Schiff Could Face Fines, Prison Time if Classified
Whistleblower Targets Schiff
A Democrat whistleblower, backed by FBI interview reports, claims Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) authorized leaks of classified intelligence during the Trump–Russia probe.
The source says Schiff told staff “the group would leak classified information which was derogatory to President…
Trump” and that it “would be used to indict President Trump.”
Objections and Fallout
The whistleblower says he called the plan “unethical and possibly treasonous” but was told “we would not be caught.”
He identified Rep. Eric Swalwell as a likely conduit and claimed he was fired after going to the FBI.
Legal Risks
Former U.S. Attorney Brett Tolman warned Schiff could face major penalties: “The fine is up to $250,000 for every leak that’s charged.”
He added that if intent was proven “to undermine the United States,” prison terms could reach “up to 20 years.”
FBI and Schiff Response
Critics accuse FBI Director Christopher Wray of ignoring misconduct.
Schiff has denied leaking classified material, calling such claims partisan attacks.
