Scientist Warn That Massive Flooding and Tsunamis

Tsunami Threats Rising for U.S. Coasts
Tsunamis are a growing danger for the U.S., threatening the Pacific Northwest, East Coast, and Gulf Coast. “They’re more like ticking time bombs waiting to be set off.”
Cascadia’s Risk of Devastation
Washington, Oregon, and Northern California face the highest risk from the Cascadia Subduction Zone. “There’s a 10–14% chance of another magnitude 9.0+ quake within the next 50 years.” Such a quake could trigger 30–100 foot waves and sink entire communities. “Entire communities could sink as the ground suddenly drops several feet.”
Hidden Dangers on Other Coasts
Underwater landslides and distant quakes endanger the East Coast and Gulf. “An earthquake there could send lethal waves toward the southeastern U.S., including Florida.” Past quakes in 1918 and 1946 killed over 1,600 in the Caribbean.
