Scientists warn against trend of using vagi

The Trend: Vabbing

TikTok users have popularized “vabbing,” which involves dabbing vaginal secretions on pulse points like wrists and neck to supposedly attract the opposite sex.

Influencer Mandy Lee claimed, “I swear if you vab, you will attract people, like a date or a one-night stand.”

What Science Says

Experts are skeptical. Sexologist Edwina Caito explains, “Humans do secrete sex pheromones, but the jury is still out on whether or not they still create a reaction as they once did.”

Neuroscientist Erick Janssen calls it a “fad,” noting, “Pheromones are not things we consciously smell.”

Placebo Effect

The trend might work psychologically.

Caito adds, “If the act of vabbing makes you feel more attractive, that will be perceived as outward confidence, which in and of itself is beautiful.”

Risks and Reality

Doctors warn about hygiene, infections, and STIs.

Social reactions are also mixed, with some users calling the trend “revolting.”

Experts advise caution and common sense over viral fads.
