Tragic Crash After Takeoff
A Boeing 787 Dreamliner carrying 242 people crashed shortly after leaving Ahmedabad for London. The plane lost signal under a minute after takeoff and crashed into a residential building housing doctors.
Casualties and Survivor
Most passengers were Indian and British nationals. Only one survivor, British citizen Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, was found. “Thirty seconds after take-off, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed,” he told Hindustan Times. “There were bodies all around me… I stood up and ran.”
Official Response
Police Commissioner GS Malik confirmed the rescue: “One survivor has been found in the hospital and is under treatment.” The death toll remains unconfirmed but may rise.
Global Reaction
Indian PM Narendra Modi called the event “heartbreaking beyond words,” while UK PM Keir Starmer described it as “devastating.” King Charles has also been briefed.
