Teen crashes into school bus and dies with phone

A Deadly Distraction

Seventeen-year-old Katelyn Ray tragically lost her life on September 5, 2018, in Mississippi after crashing into a school bus while driving.

Police later confirmed she had her phone in her hand at the moment of impact.

The Crash

Katelyn failed to notice the slowing bus and never hit the brakes.

“No black marks because she never hit the brakes and she still had the cell phone in her hand when they removed her from the car,”

police wrote on Facebook.

A Family’s Loss

That morning, Katelyn was on her way to pick up her sister after their mother, Shelia, asked her to.

When she didn’t arrive, her family grew worried—only to receive the devastating news soon after.

A Lasting Warning

Thankfully, none of the 12 children on the bus were hurt.

But Katelyn’s death stands as a tragic reminder: “PAY ATTENTION!!” Distracted driving can destroy lives in seconds.
