California, USA – A viral video shows a woman apparently asleep in her Tesla while it cruised over 50 mph on a busy freeway.
Captured by Andres and his mother, the clip reveals the driver slouched with eyes closed.
Andres recalled: “I literally saw the girl sleeping, just barely holding the wheel.”
911 Call Made
Fearing danger, Andres’ mother phoned the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities confirmed a 911 report but said the vehicle was gone when officers arrived.
Safety Concerns
The footage reignited debate over Tesla’s Autopilot.
While the system can assist drivers, it requires constant attention—a responsibility critics say too many ignore.
Federal Investigations
Tesla is under DOJ scrutiny for possibly overstating Autopilot’s abilities.
