Democratic Donor Admits to $248M Wire Fraud
Joseph Sanberg, a major Democratic donor and co-founder of Aspiration Partners, has agreed to plead guilty to two counts of wire fraud.
According to the Department of Justice, Sanberg misled investors and lenders about the financial health of his company, resulting in over $248 million in losses.
“Joseph Sanberg abused his authority and used lies to enrich himself at the expense of others,”
said Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew R. Galeotti.
Sanberg’s conduct contradicted Aspiration’s image as a socially responsible company,
undermining both investor trust and public confidence.
L.A. Councilman Faces Corruption Charges
In Los Angeles, City Councilmember Curren Price now faces 12 felony charges, including new allegations that his wife received over $800,000 from agencies that later benefited from his council votes.
“This is not how public service is supposed to work,” said L.A.
County District Attorney Nathan Hochman.
Prosecutors claim Price approved contracts while concealing his wife’s
financial ties to developers receiving those contracts.
Price has pleaded not guilty to earlier charges of embezzlement,
perjury, and conflict of interest.
