They Gathered To Immortalize A
A Rare Six-Generation Family Photo
A touching photo shows six generations of women—from newborn Zhavia to her 98-year-old great-great-great-grandmother, MaeDell Hawkins.
MaeDell holds baby Zhavia, surrounded by her daughter Francis, granddaughter Gracie Howell, great-granddaughter Jacqueline, and great-great-granddaughter Jaisline.
Gracie called the photo “fantastic” and said, “It included all the women in the family.”
MaeDell’s Life of Strength
MaeDell married at 16 and raised 23 children, including 10 stepchildren. Gracie remembered, “There was no washing machine, no dishwasher, and no running water,” yet MaeDell “went about her day without uttering a single complaint.”
A Loving Legacy
Now in a nursing home, MaeDell still shares joy and wisdom. She “tickled the baby’s little feet” during a visit. Gracie said, “I adore her,” and MaeDell proudly said, “We have a big, wonderful family.”
Unexpected Recognition
Gracie shared the photo with a local meteorologist and was surprised by the “very positive reception,” making MaeDell’s story a celebration of love, family, and perseverance.
