New 9/11 Victims Identified After Nearly 25 Years
Three more victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks have been identified through advanced DNA testing, offering closure to their families after decades of uncertainty.
The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the identities of Ryan Fitzgerald, 26, of Floral Park; Barbara Keating, 72, of Palm Springs; and an unnamed woman whose family requested privacy. These are the 1,651st to 1,653rd victims identified out of the 2,976 killed.
“The pain of losing a loved one in the September 11th terror attacks echoes across the decades,” said Mayor Eric Adams.
Dr. Jason Graham stated, “Our promise to identify the missing and return them to their loved ones stands as strong as ever.”
The OCME continues its decades-long effort to identify over 1,100 victims still unconfirmed, in what remains the most extensive forensic investigation in U.S. history.
