77-Year-Old Grandmother Fights Off ATM Robbers
Seventy-seven-year-old Winifred Peel of Wirral, UK, showed remarkable courage when she fought off three robbers at an ATM.
While withdrawing cash, she noticed men approaching.
Two restrained her while a third took £200, but Winifred acted quickly,
“grabbed one attacker by the collar and struck him three times with the ATM head,” leaving him injured before the men fled.
Police later identified the suspects—Felix Stoica, Florin Geblescu, and Piper Dumitru,
aged 18 and 19—who were arrested and sentenced to prison.
Winifred reflected on the ordeal: “I will never have the confidence I previously had, but this experience transformed my life.”
Raised with three brothers and active in sports, her quick thinking stopped the robbers and proved that determination knows no age.
