Tragedy Strikes As Pilot Landon

Tragic Plane Crash Near San Diego
On June 8, 2025, a twin-engine Cessna 414 crashed into the Pacific Ocean near Point Loma, killing six people, including the pilot Landon Baldwin and his wife Torrie. Their two young children are now left without parents. The couple was flying from California back to Phoenix when the crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed there were no survivors.

Flight Trouble and Final Moments
Landon told air traffic controllers he was struggling to keep direction and altitude. Despite advice to climb to 4,000 feet, the plane stayed around 1,000 feet and made turns toward the coast before heading back to the water. After being told to land at a nearby naval airport, Landon said he couldn’t see it and then called “Mayday” before disappearing.

Eyewitness Account
Tyson Wislofsky, who was surfing nearby, said, “The aircraft ascended back into the sky for a brief moment after emerging from the clouds at an angle. The next time he came out of the clouds, he went straight into the water,” adding it descended “nose first” and fast.
