Trans woman sues OB-GYN for

Trans Woman Denied Care Sparks Legal Debate
Jessica Simpson, a Canadian transgender woman and activist, filed a human rights complaint after a gynecologist refused care for a body part she doesn’t have. The case reignited public debate around transgender rights and service obligations.

Waxing Case Triggers Controversy
Simpson, formerly known as Jessica Yaniv, made headlines in 2018 after demanding Brazilian wax services from estheticians, despite still having male genitalia. She accused five beauty workers of discrimination, seeking up to $15,000 each in damages.
“None of these providers had any issue with anything until I mentioned I was transgender,” she testified.
The estheticians, most of whom were immigrant women working from home, said they weren’t trained to wax male anatomy. The court ruled against Simpson in 2019, ordering her to pay $2,000 to three respondents and noting she had shown “animus toward certain racial, religious and cultural groups.”

Reaction to Business Closures
The beauticians had to close their businesses following the accusations. When asked by the Calgary Herald if she regretted that, Simpson said: “No, why should I feel bad? The one who was the victim here was me. The way that I see it, all women should receive the same service.”
