Trump Renews Allegations of Mortgage
Trump Revives Fraud Claim Against Schiff
President Donald Trump accused Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) of mortgage fraud,
alleging he falsely claimed a Maryland house as his “primary residence” to secure better loan terms.
On Truth Social, Trump called Schiff a “scam artist” and wrote: “
The FRAUD began with the refinance of his Maryland property on February 6, 2009,
and continued through multiple transactions.”
Schiff Denies Allegations
Schiff dismissed the accusations as “baseless and recycled,” saying he complied with all requirements.
He argued that many lawmakers maintain homes near Washington to serve in Congress.
Legal Questions
Experts note mortgage fraud is serious but caution that “merely owning two homes and shifting which one you designate as primary isn’t necessarily fraud.”
Without documentation, they say, there’s little to assess.
Political Fallout
The clash renews a long feud.
Trump insists Schiff “needs to be brought to justice,” while Schiff frames the attack as political retribution.
