Musk Turns on Trump
Elon Musk has publicly broken with former ally Donald Trump, backing calls for Trump’s impeachment and replacement with Vice President J.D. Vance. When X user Ian Miles Cheong proposed the idea, Musk replied simply: “Yes.” He also warned Trump’s tariff policies could trigger a recession and claimed Trump appeared in Jeffrey Epstein’s files, alleging this explains why they haven’t been released.
Escalating Tensions
The feud intensified after Trump threatened to cut Musk’s government contracts. In response, Musk said he might deactivate SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, which NASA uses for ISS missions. Trump ally Steve Bannon called Musk a “national security risk” and even suggested deportation, questioning Musk’s immigration status.
Policy and Personal Clashes
Musk slammed a GOP spending bill as bloated and damaging to cost-cutting efforts, calling it full of “disgusting pork.” He added, “Bills should be slim and beautiful, not big and ugly.” Trump countered that Musk was bitter over lost EV subsidies and said, “he went CRAZY!” Musk retorted sarcastically on X, daring Trump to cancel contracts.
