Trump Suggests Expanding DC Crime Clean-Up
Trump Eyes Expanding Crime Efforts
President Donald Trump signaled he may extend his Washington, D.C., crime crackdown to other cities, including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
He called D.C. a “test case” and said, “A lot of people say, ‘Well, where is he going from there?’… I have calls from politicians begging me to go to Chicago, begging me to go to New York, begging me to go to Los Angeles.”
Local Requests and National Guard Deployments
Trump said he prefers mayors to ask for help, noting, “I wish the mayor of D.C. would say, ‘You know, we’re overridden with crime, and we need help.’”
He also cited National Guard deployments in Los Angeles to quell protests, claiming, “They would have ripped down that city. We went there, and it stopped Day 1.”
Funding and City Improvements
Trump plans to ask Congress for $2 billion for D.C.’s roads and graffiti removal and wants to reverse what he calls “woke” influence in museums.
Impact and Arrests
Attorney General Pam Bondi reported, “more than 700 arrests have been made and 91 illegal firearms seized” since the federal initiative began.
