Trump to burn $10M taxpayer-funded birth

Trump Administration to Burn $10M in Birth Control

The Trump administration is set to incinerate nearly $10 million worth of U.S.-funded contraceptives stored in Belgium,

instead of donating them to women in need.

A congressional aide criticized the decision, saying the government is “quite literally burning taxpayer money.”

Why Destroy Them?

The supplies—implants, IUDs, injectables, and pills—remain viable for years, with some expiring as late as 2031.

Still, the State Department has labeled them “abortifacient birth control commodities,”

despite medical experts rejecting the claim. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists stated, “By definition, contraceptives prevent pregnancy – not end a pregnancy.”

Offers Rejected

Organizations like MSI Reproductive Choices offered to take and distribute the supplies at no cost, but the administration declined.

“We were not given a reason,” said MSI spokeswoman Grace Dunne.

Impact on Women

“This is about exporting an ideology that’s harmful to women,” said MSI’s Sarah Shaw, warning of shortages, unsafe abortions, and school dropouts if the contraceptives are destroyed.
