While climbing Laila Peak, Dahlmeier was fatally struck by a falling rock. Her partner, Marina Eva, sent a distress signal, but poor weather delayed rescue efforts until the next day.
Biathlon Career Highlights
Dahlmeier rose to fame after her 2016–17 season, winning five golds and a silver at the World Championships. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, she made history as “the first woman to win both the sprint and pursuit biathlon events at a single Games.”
