College Graduate Dies from Peanut Allergy Days After Graduation
Tragic Loss
Just eight days after graduating from the University of Rhode Island, 22-year-old Timothy Myles Howard died on May 24 following a severe allergic reaction to peanuts. “He came in and woke us up and said that he couldn’t breathe. At that point, it unfolded very quickly,” his father told NBC affiliate 10WJAR. Despite using his EpiPen and calling 911, “The reaction was too far gone.”
Family’s Grief
His mother, Patty, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook: “It is with heavy hearts we share the loss of our son Timmy to a severe anaphylactic reaction to peanuts.”
Legacy and Awareness
In his memory, his fraternity brothers launched a fundraiser to promote food allergy education and anaphylaxis research. “Let’s spread awareness on food allergies and on advancing anaphylaxis research and treatment.”
