Wales rugby legend’s son becomes drag
A New Stage for a Famous Name
Steele Quinnell, son of Welsh rugby legend Scott Quinnell, is making waves—not on the pitch, but as drag performer Heidi Heights. “It’s going to be really good fun,” he says of his upcoming Ladies Day performance at Ffos Las Racecourse.
From Rugby Roots to Rhinestones
Though raised in a rugby dynasty, Steele found his stage during a local production of Kinky Boots. Told he’d be better suited for Lola than Charlie, he recalls, “I just thought, sod it, I’ll do it.”

Embracing Drag
Now with regular gigs and three residencies, Steele says, “I bought a nice wig, started making my own costumes… I’m booked every Saturday for the rest of the year.” His act is playful and interactive: “When I say ‘Heidi Heights,’ the crowd replies, ‘Ho-de-ho!’”

Family Support
“My dad has always been one of my biggest advocates,” he says. “I’ve always said, my dad’s a drag queen without the wig.”
