Wife of Minnesota State Senator Shielded Daughter
Targeted Attack on Minnesota Senator’s Family
Minnesota State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were shot multiple times in a targeted attack at their home. Yvette shielded their daughter, Hope, from gunfire. “My aunt threw herself on her daughter, using her body as a shield to save her life,” said Mat Ollig. Both parents underwent surgery and are in stable condition; Hope was unharmed.
Shooter Kills House Speaker and Husband
The suspect, Vance Luther Boelter, dressed as a police officer and killed Minnesota House Speaker Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband. Police say he later exchanged gunfire with officers.
Suspect’s Motive and Background
Boelter previously served on state workforce councils. Authorities found a manifesto listing 70 political figures, abortion clinics, and pro-choice lawmakers, including Hoffman and Hortman. Documents titled “No Kings” suggest a possible political motive.
