Zohran Mamdani has been confirmed as New York City’s next mayor after a landslide victory,
becoming the city’s first Muslim and South Asian leader — and its youngest in over a century.
A Message of Pride and Defiance
At his rally outside the Brooklyn Paramount, Mamdani declared, “New York will remain a city of immigrants,
a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, led by an immigrant.”
He also sent a bold message to President Donald Trump: “Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: turn the volume up!”
From Film to Politics
The 34-year-old son of filmmaker Mira Nair once worked on Disney’s Queen of Katwe and performed the rap song “#1 Spice” under the name Young Cardamom.
