If Obama and
A hypothetical 2028 matchup between Donald Trump and Barack Obama
has drawn attention after a new poll tested how Americans would vote,
despite the Constitution’s 22nd Amendment barring both from running again.
Trump has fueled speculation by openly entertaining the idea, saying, “I’d love that.
That would be a good one. I’d like that,” and later adding, “I’m not joking… there are methods.”
Daily Mail and J.L. Partners surveyed 1,013 registered voters and found Obama would win,
with 52% supporting Obama compared to 41% backing Trump.
Obama led strongly among key groups, including 73% of Hispanic voters and 68% of Black voters.
The article notes that Obama was “the only recent Democratic figure to beat Trump” in such polling.
While changing the Constitution is highly unlikely, Trump’s remarks have kept the unlikely scenario in public discussion.
