The House narrowly passed a bill targeting transgender healthcare in a 216–211 vote,

turning what supporters called a moral fight into a fierce political clash.

Republicans framed the measure as protecting minors,

labeling the care “child abuse” and

claiming a federal ban is needed to “save children.”

They argued parents, doctors, and states cannot be trusted.

Democrats warned the bill would criminalize medicine and devastate families,

saying doctors could face prison for following established care standards and parents could lose decision-making rights.

They cautioned that trans youth, already vulnerable, would be pushed further into fear and isolation.

Though the bill may fail in the Senate, its House passage underscores how transgender healthcare has

become a defining and divisive issue in U.S. politics, with children and families at the center of the conflict.
