Donald Trump Says He Is Serious About
Trump Renews Greenland Claim
Donald Trump has doubled down on his long-standing claim that the US
should take Greenland, saying he is “very serious” and arguing the territory is vital for security.
The remarks come amid heightened global attention on US power.
Security Argument
In an NBC News interview, Trump said:
“We need Greenland for national security, and that includes Europe.”
He later added the island is “essential for the national security of the US,
Europe and other parts of the free world.”

International Pushback
Greenland, a Danish territory, has drawn strong opposition from Copenhagen.
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen rejected the idea, saying:
“It makes absolutely no sense to talk about the need for the United States to take over Greenland.”
Wider Implications
Analyst Dominic Waghorn warned the move reflects
this new kind of imperialistic view of what American foreign policy should be,”
noting the US already maintains a military base on the island.
