Musicians Found Dead in Reynosa
Five members of the Mexican band Grupo Fugitivo were found dead in Reynosa, near the Texas border. They had gone missing on May 25 while traveling to a performance. Authorities confirmed, “The men were abducted around 10 p.m. that evening.”
Cartel Connection Suspected
The bodies were discovered on the city’s outskirts. Nine suspects tied to the Gulf Cartel were arrested. Officials haven’t explained the motive, but “did not refute local media reports suggesting that the bodies had been incinerated.”
Music Scene Under Threat
Grupo Fugitivo played regional Mexican music, a genre sometimes linked to drug cartel glorification. It’s unknown if they performed such songs, but “other musicians have received death threats from cartels.”
