Donald Trump Signs Proclamation
On June 4, 2025, former President Donald Trump signed a proclamation expanding his hardline immigration agenda
with a new travel ban targeting nearly 20 countries.
The policy cites “national security threats” and failures to meet U.S. immigration standards.
The order enacts a full travel ban on citizens from 12 countries, including “Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, and Somalia,”
as well as Chad, Congo, and Haiti. Nationals from these countries are barred from entering the United States.
Partial restrictions were also imposed on seven others, including “Cuba, Venezuela,
Turkmenistan, and Laos,” limiting certain visas and increasing vetting.
Trump’s team says the measure is needed to “protect the U.S.,” while critics argue it mirrors “past controversial bans”
and harms refugees and families. The decision has sparked “international criticism,” with legal challenges expected as the 2026 political season approaches.
