Winter Storm Threatens Holiday Travel
Around 60 million Americans are under weather alerts this
Christmas as sleet and heavy snow move across large parts of the U.S.
The storm is arriving as many people travel home after the holidays.
Warnings and Snow Forecasts
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for parts of New York,
including Broome and Delaware counties, from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
New York City, Long Island, Pennsylvania, and New England could see three to six inches of snow,
while southwestern New York and northeastern Pennsylvania may receive a foot or more.
Cold and Changing Conditions
Snow is expected from late Friday into early Saturday,
with temperatures in the mid-20s and dropping into the teens overnight.
Slight warming Saturday could lead to rain and possible freezing rain by Sunday.
Travel Disruptions
Major airports including LaGuardia, Newark, JFK, and Philadelphia are under severe weather warnings.
Travelers are urged to use caution, and delaying trips may be safest where possible.
