Young woman puts both daughters inside
A young mother in Cedar Falls rushed her two daughters to a nearby fire station after noticing sudden symptoms during a park visit.
Emma Lowell became alarmed when her toddlers
“had suddenly begun coughing and appeared unusually dizzy after playing near a cluster of bushes.”
Unsure of the cause, she ran to the Cedar Falls Fire Station just two blocks away.
Firefighters immediately assessed the children, provided oxygen, and called paramedics.
Doctors later confirmed the girls suffered “an unexpected allergic reaction,
likely from pollen or a plant they touched during their playtime outside.” Both children recovered fully within hours.
Officials praised Emma’s quick thinking, noting her actions “made a crucial difference.”
The fire department and community commended her for acting decisively under pressure.
The family has since returned home safe and healthy,
serving as a reminder for parents to stay alert during outdoor play, as “such incidents can happen without warning.”
