Indy Journalist Accuses Gov.
Allegations Raised
Influencer Nick Shirley accused Minnesota Governor Tim Walz of child care fraud,
claiming over $110 million in public funds went to centers that were not operating. In a 42-minute video,
Shirley said he visited facilities and found them empty: “There’s no one here.”
Video Claims
Shirley highlighted the Minneapolis Quality Learning Center, licensed for 99 children, which he said appeared vacant.
He claimed it received $1.9 million in funding in 2025.
He called it evidence of “billions of dollars in fraud happening right now in Minnesota.”
Political Response
After posting, Shirley blamed Walz directly, writing, “Tim Walz and the fraudsters aren’t escaping this one.”
The video spread widely, including a post by Elon Musk captioned “Prosecute @GovTimWalz.”
Wider Reaction
Minnesota House Majority Whip Tom Emmer questioned how millions went to a center that
“can’t even spell learning correctly,” tagging Walz for answers.
