My Son Kept Building a Snowman
Nick’s daily ritual of building snowmen on his own lawn became a lesson in boundaries after
a neighbor repeatedly drove over them. Despite polite requests, Mr. Streeter dismissed the issue, saying,
“It’s just snow,” and insisting, “Tell your kid not to build where cars go.”
The destruction continued, leaving Nick hurt and frustrated.
When another snowman was crushed, Nick calmly said, “I have a plan.”
He built his next snowman beside a fire hydrant—still on their property.
As expected, the neighbor cut across the lawn again,
slammed into the hydrant, and triggered a geyser of water and fines.
Confronted, the facts were clear: the neighbor was driving on private property.
Afterward, he never crossed the grass again.
Nick kept building snowmen all winter. None were hit.
As his parent realized, “Some people don’t respect boundaries because you ask nicely…
they respect them when crossing the line finally costs them something.”
