John Mulrooney, remembered as “an exceptional radio man” and a comedian who could “light up any room,

” has died suddenly at age 67. According to the Albany Times Union,

Mulrooney passed away at his home in Coxsackie, New York, on December 29, 2025.

“No immediate cause of death was released,” and friends said the loss was completely unexpected.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mulrooney rose during the 1980s comedy boom,

performing at clubs like Dangerfield’s before becoming a familiar television presence.

He briefly hosted The Late Show in 1987 after Joan Rivers’ departure and appeared across comedy and late-night television.

He later reinvented himself as a radio star, co-hosting Wolf and Mulrooney in the Morning.

Even in 2025, he was still performing, proving comedy was “something he carried with him everywhere.”
