A 2-month-old baby died after falling from his father’s arms when the man
“fell asleep while holding the baby.” The Civil Police are investigating the case.
What Happened
The incident occurred early Monday in the Jardim das Américas 2ª Etapa neighborhood.
According to the father, exhaustion caused him to doze off, leading to the fall.
When SAMU arrived, rescuers confirmed the child was “already dead.”
Police Investigation
The case was reported by the IML, and police are hearing family members and witnesses.
Chief Kênia Segantini has not detailed the investigation, which will determine whether it was
“exclusively a domestic accident” or involved negligence.
Warning to Parents
Authorities stress that sleeping with babies is risky.
Experts warn it can lead to falls or suffocation and recommend infants sleep in safe cribs without loose objects.
