A decorated Louisiana police sergeant has d**d after spending seven weeks fighting for his life following a deliberate a**ack that left him critically injured and ultimately cost him both legs.
Sgt. Caleb Eisworth, 44, was heading home from his shift on June 16 when authorities say a 41-year-old man intentionally rammed into his police motorcycle along Greenwell Springs Road in Baton Rouge.
The suspect, who was a**ested the same day, was charged with criminal damage to property, hate crimes, resisting an officer, and first-degree m*rder.Following Eisworth’s d**th on Sunday, District Attorney Hillar Moore confirmed he plans
to seek the d**th penalty but said he will consult with Eisworth’s family before making a final decision.

A Decorated Career of Service
Eisworth served in law enforcement for 23 years, earning the Medal of Valor, the department’s highest honor, along with multiple awards for heroism.
Baton Rouge Police Chief T.J. Morse remembered him as more than a decorated officer.
“Caleb was an amazing officer and a good man,” Morse said. “He spent seven weeks fig*ting hard to overcome his injuries, but ultimately lost his battle today.”
